This last weekend I finally made the move and asked the love of my life for her hand in marriage. Even though I knew she would say yes I still hardly slept the night before. Before getting into the story lets take a step back to 2006.
These photos were taking on the first day of class by the teacher of our Philosophy 101 course and sent out to the class, this is also with in the first 10min that we met. That is pretty uncommon and something I will cherish forever.
With out the names would you recognize me :)
Flash ahead 8 years and here we are loading up a Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid and heading west into the mountains. As much as I love my G35 Coupe this weekend was to important to risk a snowstorm getting us stuck (or worse) so the Subaru fit the bill perfectly. It also provided a great distraction to throw her off the scent because I of course wanted to shoot it. We arrived early for our dog sled ride providing time for her to assist me for the first time.
Next stop was Mountain Mushers Dog Sled Rides. I honestly can not say enough about them, even if I would not have proposed it was a great experience, everyone was nice and you can tell they love what they do. I have to give another shout out to Cameron our musher for the day, he was great to talk to and kept shooting. Photo credits go to him if you see me in the photos. Thanks again and I highly recommend them if you ever in the Vail/Beaver Creek area.
Half way into the ride there is a short break to rest the dogs and to have a little hot chocolate and homemade pumpkin bread. This was the point I had planned to pop the question, while there was 5 other sleds on the tour it felt like we were the only ones there. Partly because they were nice enough to put us in back as I requested. Cameron asked if we wanted a photo and as soon as I whispered to keep shooting he knew what was coming.
Now it could have been the rush but it was the best tasting pumpkin bread and hot chocolate I have ever had.
Next stop was our B&B for the night in Minturn, a small mountain town with a population just over a 1,000. If your ever in the area and want something different then the big ski towns be sure to check out the Minturn Inn (go for the river view rooms).
How could she not be the one for me when she is ok with me spending a few minuets out side shooting in front of our cabin.
I am very excited for the future and can't wait for whats to come.
