The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is the largest balloon festival in the world attracting both visitors and teams from across the globe. Ever since I was young and visited Albuquerque with my family and saw all the postcards and prints I hoped to make it back to see first hand. Since the trip from Denver is much more manageable then Michigan this year was finally the year.
Even though at first glance it seems easy to describe it is a struggle to get the right words. The mix of little sleep to arrive well before sunrise and massive balloons in all directions provides a very surreal feeling to the event not like anything I had felt before.
Below is a selection of my favorite photos that help give a feeling of what it is like followed by a much larger gallery showing off some of the designs.
